What are we doing?
More than 150,000 people receive support from the food bank each year. Over 66 million products are distributed annually. Together, we combat poverty, reduce food surpluses, lessen environmental impact, and increase access to food for more people. We operate exclusively with 14,000 volunteers, meaning we have no labor costs.

Why is money needed?
Food banks provide direct food assistance to people who are temporarily unable to manage financially. The food bank helps its clients with free food every week.

Where is my donation used?
We urgently need your contribution to provide weekly food aid. Our costs are for housing, gas, electricity, water, transport, fuel, refrigerated and freezer storage, maintenance, insurance, etc. It costs us 6 euros to provide a free package to a family.

Giving money

To keep the organization running, the Food Bank needs not only food products but also money. All the products that end up in the weekly packages come with costs for energy, transport, and materials. Annually, this amounts to an average of €100,000. And that's without any setbacks...

Fortunately, there are many foundations, institutions, companies, and individuals who support us financially. However, these are usually one-time contributions. Therefore, we don't know today how much income we can expect in three months, for example.

You can also arrange a periodic donation without the intervention of a notary. This is fiscally very attractive. All you need to do is request a periodic donation agreement from us, sign it, and send it back to us.
Because we are a Public Benefit Organization (ANBI), donations are tax-deductible.

At the Food Bank, it's primarily about food products. The more we receive, the better we can help our clients.

Do you have food products or groceries that you would like to donate to the Food Bank? Our volunteers would be happy to pick them up from you. Or have you made extra purchases for the Food Bank? You can always drop them off at the side entrance on Arendsboersweg (see signs for goods drop-off) every weekday morning until 12:30 PM.

Note expiration date!

The Almelo Food Bank Foundation will still need to distribute the offered food items. For this reason, it is not possible to accept food with a very limited shelf life, unless specific agreements have been made.

The Almelo Food Bank Foundation follows these rules after accepting food donations:

1. the received food products are stored properly;
2. the received food products are exclusively provided to customers of the Food Bank;
3. No alcohol is served (including no packaging 0 % that refers to alcohol);
4. The guidelines of the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) regarding the transport, storage, and distribution of food products are strictly adhered to.
